Bayelsa Judge's Abductors Arrested, Police Officer Rewarded for Rejecting Bribe
The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested the abductors of Justice Ebiyerin Omukoro, a Judge of the Bayelsa State High Court. The judge was kidnapped on June 21 in Yenagoa and held for 12 days before being rescued through a joint effort by security agencies.
Governor Douye Diri announced the arrest during a state executive council meeting, while also honoring Superintendent of Police Sentome Obi for rejecting a $17,000 bribe offered by a suspect involved in organ harvesting. The governor stated that everyone involved in the kidnapping has been apprehended, except the gang leader who is still at large.
Diri commended the security agencies for their efforts in ensuring the state's safety and peace. He praised SP Obi's gallantry, honesty, and devotion to duty, recommending him for promotion and rewarding him with a three-bedroom flat and a car. The governor emphasized that SP Obi's actions brought dignity and pride to the Force and to Bayelsa State.
