Customs Hands Over Seized Tramadol, Analgin to NAFDAC

The Comptroller of the Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone B, Kaduna, A. M. Alkali, has handed over a large consignment of seized Tramadol and Analgin to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). The seized items include 58,740 sachets of Tramadol (100mg and 50mg) and 27 cartons of Analgin injection.

The Nigeria Customs Service, FOU Zone B, Kaduna, had seized the items in the course of its operations to prevent the importation and distribution of illicit drugs in the country. The items were handed over to NAFDAC in a ceremony attended by officials of both agencies. Dr. Paul Faruna received the items on behalf of the Director, North-West Zone.

The handover ceremony marks a significant collaboration between the Nigeria Customs Service and NAFDAC in the fight against the importation and distribution of illicit drugs in the country. The two agencies have been working together to prevent the entry and circulation of fake and illicit drugs in the market.

The seizure of these items is significant because Tramadol and Analgin are controlled substances that can be abused and have serious health implications if not used properly. The agencies' efforts to prevent their importation and distribution will help to protect public health and safety.

The importation and distribution of illicit drugs like Tramadol and Analgin can have serious consequences for public health. These substances can be addictive and can cause harm to individuals who use them without proper medical supervision. By preventing their importation and distribution, the Nigeria Customs Service and NAFDAC are helping to protect the public from the dangers associated with these substances.

The handover of the seized Tramadol and Analgin to NAFDAC is a significant step in the right direction. It underscores the importance of inter-agency collaboration in the fight against illicit drugs and highlights the agencies' commitment to protecting public health and safety. The Nigeria Customs Service and NAFDAC will continue to work together to prevent the importation and distribution of illicit drugs in the country.
