Don't Come to Edo State Without Telling Me, If You Do Your Security Will Never Be Guaranteed

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has indeed warned Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, against visiting the state without obtaining necessary security clearance. This warning comes after Obi's recent visit to Benin City on July 7, where he donated ₦15 million to St. Philomena Hospital School of Nursing Sciences.

The governor linked Obi's visit to a resurgence of violence in the state, which reportedly resulted in three deaths shortly after Obi's departure. Okpebholo questioned the source of the ₦15 million donation, saying, "That man who says he has no ‘shishi’ came and dropped ₦15 million. Where did he get it from?"

Okpebholo emphasized that Obi's safety cannot be guaranteed without official approval and warned that such visits will no longer be tolerated without prior notification to the state government. In essence, if Obi visits Edo State without clearance, his security will not be guaranteed, and he'll be responsible for any consequences.

The governor's comments suggest a strained relationship between the state government and Peter Obi, with Okpebholo seemingly questioning Obi's motives and financial dealings.
