Omoyele Sowore Speaks Out Against Nigeria Police Harassment of Journalists

Omoyele Sowore, a prominent Nigerian activist, has strongly condemned the Nigeria Police Force's alleged harassment of journalists and activists. In a recent social media post, Sowore expressed his outrage over the Police's actions against Agba Jalingo, a well-known activist-journalist, and Isaac Show, a content creator.

According to Sowore, the Police sent intimidation letters to these individuals over a video reposted by Isaac Show without commentary. Sowore views this as a blatant abuse of the Cybercrime Act, aimed at silencing dissent and criminalizing free expression. He emphasized that these actions are part of a larger pattern of harassment by the Nigeria Police Force, targeting not just journalists and activists but also everyday Nigerians who dare to exercise their constitutional right to free speech.

Sowore's statement highlights concerns about the state of freedom of speech and the Press in Nigeria. The alleged actions of the Nigeria Police Force have sparked criticism and calls for greater respect for constitutional rights. Many have expressed worry that such actions could have a chilling effect on free speech and the ability of journalists and activists to carry out their work without fear of persecution.

Sowore's condemnation of the Police's actions is unequivocal. He emphasized that Nigerians will not be silenced and will continue to resist attempts to turn Nigeria into a Police State. He concluded with a firm stance, "Enough is enough," signaling his determination to stand up against what he sees as a threat to democracy and freedom of expression.

The incident has sparked a wider conversation about the need to protect freedom of speech and the Press in Nigeria. Many are calling for greater accountability and transparency from law enforcement agencies and for the government to ensure that constitutional rights are respected and protected.

In this context, Sowore's statement serves as a rallying cry for those who believe in the importance of free speech and the Press. It also underscores the need for continued advocacy and activism to protect these fundamental rights and ensure that Nigeria remains a place where citizens can express themselves freely without fear of persecution.
