Wase Raises Alarm on Escalating Insecurity in Plateau State, Urges Immediate Intervention

 The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, has raised a motion on the urgent need for intervention in the escalating insecurity in some areas of Plateau State, particularly in Wase Local Government Area. The motion, which was unanimously adopted by the House, highlights the deteriorating security situation in the affected communities.


Rt. Hon. Wase passionately decried the recent upsurge in deadly attacks, killings, and displacement of innocent citizens in the affected communities. He emphasized the growing humanitarian crisis resulting from ongoing banditry and called for swift and decisive action to restore peace and order.

The motion urges the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Department of State Services (DSS) to immediately deploy personnel to secure the affected areas, prevent further attacks, and restore normalcy. Additionally, the motion calls on the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), to urgently provide relief materials, shelter, and comprehensive resettlement support for persons displaced by the attacks.

To ensure effective implementation, the House mandated its Committees on Defence, Army, Air Force, Police Affairs, Interior, Emergency and Disaster Preparedness, and Legislative Compliance to oversee and monitor compliance with the resolutions.

The motion raised by Rt. Hon. Wase highlights the urgent need for intervention in the escalating insecurity in Plateau State. The House of Representatives' unanimous adoption of the motion demonstrates its commitment to addressing the security challenges in the state and providing relief to affected communities. It is expected that the relevant agencies will take swift and decisive action to restore peace and order in the affected areas.
