Bayelsa Police Parade 8 Suspects Over Abduction of Justice Umukoro, Kingpin at Large

 The Bayelsa State Police Command has paraded eight suspects linked to the abduction of Justice E.G. Umukoro of the Bayelsa State High Court in Yenagoa. According to the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Francis Idu, the suspects have confessed to playing different roles in the abduction. However, the kingpin of the gang is still at large.



The police commissioner expressed gratitude to the Department of State Services and other security agencies for their strategic role in the rescue operation. He also credited the new technology installed by the Prosperity Administration across the state capital for facilitating the rescue of Justice Umukoro.

Justice Umukoro was kidnapped on Saturday, July 20, 2025, and was held captive for 12 days before being rescued without payment of ransom. The judge was reportedly abducted at gunpoint near an eatery in Yenagoa.

The rescue operation was a result of joint efforts by the police and other security agencies. The State Commissioner of Information, Hon. Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai, expressed joy at the release of the abducted judge, saying it vindicated the state government's investment in security.
