NIMC WARNS NIGERIANS AGAINST SHARING PERSONAL DATA FOR FINANCIAL GAIN

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has issued a warning to Nigerians against sharing their personal data, including National Identification Number (NIN), for financial gain. The Commission noted with serious concern a recent statement by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) about young Nigerians selling their personal information to Fintech institutions. The NIMC expressed grave concern over the security implications of such actions, stating that it will not be held responsible for any personal information shared by an individual directly or by proxy for financial gain or inducement.
